[2025] Tex & The Horseheads - I'll Quit Tomorrow (BLR)

[2025] Tex & The Horseheads - I'll Quit Tomorrow (BLR)

Compilation I've just put together of Californian Cow Punk originators Tex & The Horseheads. This collects the two Studio albums, the E.P. and the Live In Holland LP. I previously posted these individually back in 2023, but it's nice to have them in one collection. Well recommended if I don't say so myself!

[2011] Blaze Foley - Duct Tape Messiah (Soundtrack)

[2011] Blaze Foley - Duct Tape Messiah (Soundtrack)

When you think of Outlaw/Alt. Country one of the first names to come up has to be Blaze Foley. He lived a life outside of society in a world of his own crazy making. Sadly he was shot and killed way to young. He left behind some truley outstanding records which are available through Bandcamp. So if you like this head on over. This is the soundtrack to a Documentary that was made in 2011. The documentary is where I first heard of him, and if you're ever lucky enough to stumble upon it I recommend it as a great watch.

[1997] Fred Eaglesmith - Lipstick Lies & Gasoline

One of the best songwriters you've probably never heard of. This is my favourite record from Outlaw Country legend Fred Eaglesmith. Really doesn't get much better than this.

Tasty bit of sleaze featuring  Lantz L'Amour from bands like Crenshaw Mafia Motherfuckers and The Violent Professionals, Stacey Blades of L.A. Guns and Roxx Rang and Eric Stacey from Faster Pussycat. Well worth a listen or two!

[2025] U2 - Running To Standstill (BLR)

[2025] U2 - Running To Standstill (BLR)

I'm far from being a U2 fan. I understand why they're so popular but they're just another band that hasn't really resonated with me. I love Under A Blood Red Sky and The Joshua Tree and a couple of singles, with War as well in a pinch, other than that I'm not bothered. Anything after Rattle And Hum and you've lost me. I was having a wee trawl through Youtube and Running To Standstill popped up, and I remembered just how much I love the song, and that has led to this.

[2025] Shooting Gallery - The Nature Of My Breakdown (BLR)... Note!

[2025] Shooting Gallery - The Nature Of My Breakdown (BLR)... Note!

No idea how it happened but Restless was repeated as track 2 instead Teenage Breakdown. It's all fixed now. So if you dowloaded it already you might want to do it again. Big oops.

Buddy asked for a copy of the Shooting Gallery Demos. They're already up, but were in desperate need of an update. This collection compiles the album, the demos and a show in better quality than things I've posted before.

Mountain

Mountain

I'm far from being a big Mountain fan. For me they're another band that released some total bangers amidst a pile of bollocks. I respect what they do and their influence, but mostly they just don't resonate. So here's a great compilation, so I didn't have to compile one, and the album I play the most which is their Bob Dylan Tribute album Masters Of War. This album is probably best known by you all for featuring Ozzy on the title track. And of course you can never go past Mississippi Queen as being a classic. Both are well worth a listen.

[2025] The Mockers - After The Rain (BLR)

[2025] The Mockers - After The Rain (BLR)

My favourite New Zealand band from the 1980's. Growing up as a teen in NZ they were my band to see. Didn't get into the whole Dunedin Sound until the 1990's. They used to do all ages gigs so I saw them a few times at school halls etc. Sneaking into places like the Gluepot and Mainstreet was fairly easy so I got to see them at their best and not watered down for 14 year old girls at those all ages and school shows. They still get together and do the odd gig. I guess if I had to put a label on them I'd say they're kind of pop with a new wave/post punk lean. This is a small collection of A's & B's. Not for everyone, but I love them so you get them!

Nirvana... The 1993 Rio Tapes

Nirvana... The 1993 Rio Tapes

A good buddy asked for a copy of the Hollywood Rock Festival at the Praca Da Apoteose in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on 23 January 1993. I picked the best quality version I have and put this together. I also put a wee thing together for the Demos they recorded the BMG Studios while they were there. Sure there are dozens of different Bootlegs of these two collections, but I like to make my own. So here you go...

[2017] VA - Smacked! A Tribute To Ilari ''Claude'' Peltola

A friend asked for this and I think it will be okay to post. We all know and love Smack and Claude is a big loss to all us fans. This is a great Tribute featuring tracks from The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, Plastic Tears, The Flaming Sideburns, Anita Chellmah & Timo Kaltio and more. A must for any fan, and see previous Smack posts if you're interested.

[2025] Bob Dylan - Gotta Serve Somebody (BLR)

[2025] Bob Dylan - Gotta Serve Somebody (BLR)

There's no way I could do a Dylan Best Of... and keep it to just one volume. So what I've done here is basically an Introduction of sorts. A place to maybe get a bit of inspiration to make your own journey into the musical depths of a true legend. My favourite three Dylan records are Desire, Live At Budokan and Nashville Skyline. But it's a hard choice. The only album I never listen to is the Live Dylan And The Dead LP. This was a difficult task that I set myself, but with multiple revisions I'm happy how it's turned out. Hopefully one or two of you will like it as well.

[2000] Audrey Auld - The Fallen

[2000] Audrey Auld - The Fallen

I can't tell you all just how much I love this record. Audrey was an Australian country singer who I got to know through Kasey Chambers. Kasey's father Bill plays guitar on this record. Sadly Audrey lost her battle with cancer in 2015. I've featured her songs on several Playlists over the years. I know this won't be for everyone, but I recommend you all give it at least one listen.
