Updated version of Rabbits Rule Heaven. Independent J-Pop/Kawaii Metal is obviously not for everyone, and I've been pretty clear about my loathing of the Japanese Idol System, but Rei and Rie have been awesome in any of their incarnations. You just have to listen to their Kawaii Metal band Ladybaby after Ladybeard left (which was an Idol gimic that I never got), and their album The Idol Formerly Known As Ladybaby to see that. I love it, so you get it!
[2025] The Stone Roses - Stars Will Shine (BLR)
Can't say just how much I love The Stone Roses. This is one of my "If it doesn't exist make it yourself!" compilations. Never got why they included those back masking nonsense tracks on their releases, but remove those couple and they never did a bad song.
[2025] Bang Tango - Soul To Shove... Live!!! (BLR)
For me Bang Tango are an odd band. Undoubtably they are an amazing bunch of musicians, but their Studio albums always seem to be missing something. They seem too over produced and missing a tangible I've never been quite able to put my finger on. Plus the albums are a little more filler than killer. But then you take them out of the studio and put them on the stage and everything seems to change. The songs come alive, even the iffy ones find that spark and it's just an amazing show. If only that tangible could be captured in the studio. Of course that is just my opinion and everyone's is, and should be different. This compilation of two Live Ep's and one Live Album was sparked into being by my very good friend G. I used to have several quality Bootlegs but sadly they're long gone. Play it loud!

[1985] The Saints - Live In A Mud Hut
When I lived in Brisbane, Australia back in the late 1980's the guy who lived behind me was the original guitarist for The Saints. He was a complete knob, but I brought an acoustic guitar hoping for a lesson or two. Let's just say it didn't go well, so I painted it cherry red, lit it on fire and smashed it to pieces on the driveway. That was my musical journey killed until the early 2000's. Still can't play, but I was just having a drunken strum pissing off my neighbours so I thought I'd post my most played Saints LP.

A little tape stretch, some hiss and a couple of glitches in places, but all up a damn good show. Basically all I did was amplify it a little and balance it in a few of the iffy places. I didn't want to mess with it to much other than to make it more listenable, so other wise it's as recorded. Sylvain turns up for a cracking version of 14th St. Beat. Recommended for fans of Johnny and Michael Monroe.

Low-Fi Riot Grrls Emily's Sassy Lime were never going to be famous houesehold names that sold out world wide stadium tours, or be darlings of that US College Radio Station thing. That wasn't the point for these Californian teens. It was all an experiment in joyfully abstract spontaneous noise. Imagine the rawest most explorative impromptu bedroom tracks from Nikki Sudden and Epic Soundtrack's Swell Maps and you might get an idea of their sound. Their existence was as short and delightful as a firecracker exploding in a tin can. Those who know, know why they are important, and they should be remembered and appreciated. Obviously not for everyone, but it is a glorious noise! Title is from a track played on John Peel.
