[2022] The Black Halos - Sell-Out Love (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] The Black Halos - Sell-Out Love (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

Thought I'd end the "Introduction To..." month with a total belter. The Black Halos are another underrated band who have never released one dodgy track, so every version of this I came up with was basically a Best Of. Seriously can't recommend this Compilation enough!

[2022] Guns 'N Roses - Double Talkin' Jive (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] Guns 'N Roses - Double Talkin' Jive (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

GNR don't really need an "Introduction To...", but neither did a lot of bands I've posted over the last month. Still, I think this is a fairly balanced collection covering their career.

The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies + Mike Farris

The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies + Mike Farris

Wasn't gonna do any of these this month, but I was just reminded of The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, and as they're a great band I thought why not do a big old post. Nashville Blues infused Southern Swamp Rock. If you like bands such as the original Lynyrd Skynyrd, early Allman Brothers and The Black Crowes etc then you should like the Wheelies. Mike Farris has gone on to release several excellent solo albums as well. They've just reformed for a couple of gigs this month, don't know if it will spring into anything more permanent, but a new album would be nice. This post is only available until Sunday midnight New Zealand time, never to be reposted.

Another one that could easily be two volumes.

[2022] L.A. Guns - Over The Edge (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] L.A. Guns - Over The Edge (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

Concentrating solely on the first four albums. I'm sure we can all agree that the Guns went through a bit of a patch when they put out a lot of twaddle. More filler than killer there for awhile. Back to full kick ass strength on the last couple of albums though. And as to Steve Riley... well he can just go and fuck himself!!!

[2022] The Smiths - Oscillate Wildly (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] The Smiths - Oscillate Wildly (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

Another insanely difficult collection to put together. Every version I put together was a Best Of. Understandable really as The Smiths didn't do one bad track. Anyway I tried to not be completely obvious in my choices, although some tracks just had to be included. Songs like Suffer The Children, Shoplifters Of The World Unite and How Soon Is Now are just a given. A young Kenneth Williams is on the cover.

[2022] Tyla J. Pallas - Maybe Tomorrow (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

Another collection that went through many changes before I was happy with it. I then gave it the Black Lodge treatment, and here ya go.

[2022] Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder & Lead (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder & Lead (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

"Nobody loves me like tequila does..." Had to pick between Elle King and Miranda Lambert, and at a toss of a coin Miranda won. Then I had to start on a tracklist... settled on 47 songs then whittled it down from there. I think this is a great "Introduction" to anyone who doesn't know Miranda, and to all the old fans... I hope you like my choices.

[2022] Manic Street Preachers - That Black Dog Feeling - Vol. 1 (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] Manic Street Preachers - That Black Dog Feeling - Vol. 1 (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

The Manics are one of my most loved bands. No doubt they've put out a few wonky efforts over the years... see Lifeblood (99% dreadful, saved by A Song For A Departure) and Send Away The Tigers (Imperial Bodybags being the saviour on that one). This first Volume contains the years 1992 through 2007. I've tried to not be too obvious in my picks as I didn't want to do a track for track Greatest Hits, but I still wanted to include some simply outstanding songs. So that is what you have here. Second Volume containing the years 2009 - 2021 will be posted tomorrow.

[2022] W.A.S.P. - Restless Gypsies (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] W.A.S.P. - Restless Gypsies (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

I've loved W.A.S.P. for 30+ years and this was another absolute nightmare to compile. Could easily do five Volumes, but I stuck to my one CD rule. Finally got a Tracklisting I was happy with and gave it the BLR treatment. Highly recommended!

[2022] The Beatles - A Day In The Life (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] The Beatles - A Day In The Life (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

Broke my Introduction To... rule on this one, and I've compiled my favourite Beatles tracks. I only really like 49 songs, but I've included She's Leaving Home (which is an OK song) to balance it out to exactly 50 songs, and it all fits onto 2 CDs. I always get into trouble when I say that The Beatles are not the greatest band of all time. Yes they did some absolute stonkers, but 75% of what they recorded was complete twaddle. Anyhoo, what you have here is what I believe to be The Beatles at their finest.

[2022] Michael Monroe - Smoke Screen (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] Michael Monroe - Smoke Screen (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

Another very difficult one to put together... went back and forth deciding whether or not to include any Jerusalem Slim, but in the end I settled on the Demo version of Teenage Nervous Breakdown.

[2022] Björk - Erratic Constellations (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

[2022] Björk - Erratic Constellations (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

I love Björk. There is not one track of here's that I dislike, so this was an absolute nightmare to put together. This collection went through a lot of different incarnations before I settled on the current tracklist. The two songs I had to have in were Joga and Big Time Sensuality, I was fairly open after that. I think that's why it took so long to put together. I'm really happy with what I have ended up with though, and I think it gives a great overall introduction to her genius.

[2022] Siouxsie & The Banshees - Metal Will Gleam (A Black Lodge Relics Introduction To...)

I'm a big fan of Siouxsie and this was another difficult collection to put together, and getting the right tracklisting and running order took ages. I also gave it the Black Lodge treatment. Gotta say that I'm really pleased with this one.
