I don't do reviews but JJ Watt sent me an early copy of The City Kids upcoming release Filth. Very rarely do you find an easy 10 out of 10 album, but this is one of them, and it leaps straight into my top 5 albums of the year. Growling vocals, catchy melodies and scorching riffs. These are sing-a-long songs that would make Ginger and Mike Ness jealous. Take Motörhead, from where The City Kids take their name, and The Supersuckers, add a good helping of The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs and The Wildhearts and you get a record that is simply astonishingly brilliant. The City Kids should be a name on everyone who loves hard driving sleazy Punk Rock 'N' Rolls lips, and I think this album will do exactly that. Make sure to pre-order. The first 100 copies comes with a limited bonus CD. If I have to recommend one album that I promote on the Blog that you must have this year it is Filth. Out 25th of November.
[2022] The Jellys - Wobble
This has been on the "To post..." pile for ages. A compilation of B-Sides and Rarities etc from CJ Wildhearts band The Jellys. Far from complete as I'm missing quite a few bits, but it's still a fun collection of punk rock loveliness.
[2006] Courtney Love - Nobody's Daughter
I prefer Courtneys solo version of Nobody's Daughter to the rerecorded version that was released by Hole in 2010, and that is an absolute cracker of a record. The Courtney solo version just feels more raw, mournful and self reflective. The Hole version is still a confessional, but that feeling of raw sadness that permeates through the original has been polished away into something more accessible. I would love to see this given an official release, even if it was just a limited Record Store Day vinyl release.

Frank "Streetwalkin' Cheetah" Meyer sent me several tracks from the Human Bomb unreleased album. I tidied everything up and included the unreleased tracks Piano Interlude and Vampire to fill it out. I think it all came out pretty well.

Hard to find unreleased album from 1979. Hadn't heard of this album until a few days ago which is strange as it features Johnny Thunders on two tracks. Highly recommended!!!

Absolutely cracking live version of Tracy In The Bathroom Killing Thrills, but then again the whole EP is a complete stonker. And they do great justice to the Jimi Hendrix cover of Foxey Lady.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's Mary's Danish were briefly called the next big L.A. thing, and by rights they really should have been. Now they're just another one of those overlooked and underrated bands that were overtaken by Grunge. They put out three brilliant Albums and one Live EP, before disappearing into the Hollywood sunset. I love these records and will be posting them over the next couple of days. Two female vocalists, a touch of funk, well crafted, smart songs created by excellent musicians, and all highly recommended! Mary's Danish Demos and Live Bootlegs have long been on my wishlist, so if anyone just happens to have any please get in touch.

Got this little beauty from Mr. Streetwalkin' Cheetah himself Frank Meyer. As far as I know this was their only release, put out on the Japanese Monster Productions label. If you like that late 80's early 90's Sunset Strip sound then you'll love this. I really can't recommend this one enough!
