[2025] Vains Of Jenna - Hard To Be Vain (BLR)
Swedish Sleaze... the Lizzy Devine years. Creative differences once again killed an awesome band. Vains Of Jenna got in Jesse Forte for a couple of years, but it just turned into a mediocre covers band. Lizzy has gone on to The Cruel Intentions, but releases are few and far between. They are pretty good Rock 'N' Roll records though. This collection compiles everything I have from the Lizzy years. Swedish Sleaze at it's finest! And thanks to Steve for the idea.
Brilliant, thanxxx
ReplyDeleteVains Of Jenna are awesome, this is a great collection.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you're compiling the best of the Lizzy years. It's a shame that such a good band fell apart. But I don't agree with you that after Lizzy's departure, they were just a mediocre cover band. I think Reverse Tripped is a very good covers album, with some versions more accomplished and others perhaps less so, but I don't think they're as mediocre as they come. There are very enjoyable versions of Fuck You, Electric Avenue, She's Not There, California Dreaming, and The Letter; and I still maintain that the version of Smoke on the Water has a very original resolution, taking the famous riff out of the final version and surviving such a gamble with dignity. And as for Jesse... I think he does very well, but he suffered the same as Olli Herman in Crashdiet: putting himself in the shoes of the great singer who came before him. Thank you, and I'll be enjoying your great selection. Mario B.
